Never Lose Your iPhone Again

By | March 31, 2018

Get more information about the settings and use of Find My iPhone to help you get your lost iPhone and protect the personal information it contains.
Losing your iPhone can have a heartbreaking effect, and turning everything around to find a lost iPhone can be frustrating.

If you accidentally leave your iPhone in a taxi or in a restaurant, it is unlikely that you will recover it.

The free Apple Find My iPhone security service can help. Use the GPS of your iPhone to communicate your position, so you can easily find a missing iPhone.

Find My iPhone is free and easy to set up and you can find your missing iPhone using the Find My iPhone application on another Apple device or by logging on to www.icloud.com in a web browser.

If you use family sharing, a family member can find the missing iPhone of someone with your Apple ID if it is associated with the family account.

Set Search my iPhone
Go to Settings> iCloud> Find my iPhone on your iPhone and make sure it’s on.
If you are asked to sign in, enter your Apple ID. If you do not have an Apple ID yet, choose Create a new Apple ID and follow the instructions.
When you enable Send last location, your iPhone will make sure that the location is sent when the battery is low.

Download the free application Find my iPhone

Download the free Find my iPhone app from the App Store to use on your iPad, iPod Touch or other family iPhones. If you lose your iPhone, you can use your iPad or another device with the Find My iPhone application to find it.

If your iPhone has been lost
Start the Find My iPhone application and enter your Apple ID to see a map with all your devices.

You can also open a web browser and write www.icloud.com. Enter your Apple ID and password, then click on ‘Find my iPhone’ and then click on ‘All devices’.
Next, select your iPhone from the list of devices to see where the location is highlighted by a green dot on the map.

If you left your iPhone somewhere else publicly, like a restaurant or a coffee shop, contact them to see if you can repair the iPhone. If your iPhone is stolen, make a note of the location or take a screenshot of the Search on my iPhone page and inform the police.

There are three device options:
1. Play sound
Let your lost iPhone play a strong ping sound, useful to find a lost iPhone nearby.
2. Lost mode
This creates an access code that will lock your lost iPhone remotely, blocking anyone who discovers that your iPhone does not have access. You can unlock it with the same code when you restore the iPhone.
3. Delete the phone

This will erase all the data on your iPhone, including your Apple ID, and it will reset the phone to the factory settings. Use this to protect your personal information if you are sure that your iPhone has been stolen and you will not be able to restore it.
Report your stolen iPhone to the police. If you are prompted for the phone’s serial number, you can find it in the original box or in My Support Profile if you have registered your device with your Apple ID.
